Program Information and Guidelines

Montmorency County Public Libraries will be hosting the 7th annual art and poetry show / competition called "Voices and Visions".  Children in kindergarten through 12th grade and adults are invited to enter.  All entries should have an entry form attached to the back of the submission.  Each person is allowed only one entry for each of the categories: poetry, art, photography / computer generated images and special art topic.  To enter you must be a resident of Montmorency County or live within one of the three school districts within the Montmorency County.  Please see the guidelines below.

Poetry Submission Guidelines

1. Poetry must be typed or printed legibly and be in English

2. Poems must be no longer than 30 lines

3. Limit of one Poem per person to be submitted for entry

4. Poems may be turned in at any one of the 3 branches of the Montmorency County Libraries from now until April 20, 2012, during library hours.

Art Submission Guidelines

1. Size: Artwork no larger than 20" x 30" (smaller is preferred)

2. Students, if your work cannot be wired to hang then please mount on a black background (i.e., mat board, poster board)

3. Adult work must be wired and ready to hang

4. Artwork may be turned in at any one of the 3 branches of the Montmorency County Libraries from now until April 20, 2012, during library hours.

Written work like school reports and manuscripts will not be accepted.

Absolutely no frames with glass are allowed.

Special Art Topic Guidelines -- Meanies, Monsters & Make-Believe

1. The artist should create a 2 dimensional work of art that fits the theme -- Meanies, Monsters & Make-Believe!

2. Actual artwork should be no larger than 10" x 15" and matted

3. Any two dimensional medium may be used.  A comment, caption or title may be included within the artwork but is optional.

4. Artwork may be turned in at any one of the 3 branches of the Montmorency County Libraries from now until April 20, 2012, during library hours.

Absolutely No Frames with Glass are Allowed.

Photography / Computer Generated Images

1. Entries must be entered in one of the following categories:

    Portrait

    Miscellaneous Subject

    Computer generated or digitally manipulated pieces (any entry that is manipulated by a computer beyond the basics of red eye reduction or techniques that improve the quality of a photo without actually changing  the content)

SCRAPBOOKING PAGES AND/OR PHOTO COLLAGES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

Trophies will be awarded in the poetry, art, photography and special art topic categories.  A chapbook of poetry, featuring the winning entries will also be available.  All categories that have entries will receive prizes.
